PT-141 (Bremelanotide Acetate) is a peptide that was originally designed as a tanning agent however, it was soon discovered that it had sexual arousal effects in men and women. Unlike Viagra and Cialis, PT-141 does not target the vascular system but instead acts on the nervous system via the activation of neurons in the hypothalamus to increase sexual desire. It's the "brain response" that makes this treatment so effective at increasing libido and desire for intimacy. PT-141 is injected into the subcutaneous fat using a very small needle (similar to insulin injection) thirty minutes before sexual activity.
